Ryzen 9 3900X Complete Build – Detailed Guide

Before building a PC, first, determine what type of build you need, then create your parts list, and then you have to estimate the power of your theoretical Build. There are various factor need to be considered while creating a build. Until you select your case, you really can’t even plan your build. Even after that, you need to proceed with a particular order to create a complete and satisfactory build.

For instance, if you want WiFi 6? then you need to but a current generation motherboard (X570 for AMD) since you can’t do PCIe add-ins. If you want to go with a 2080 Ti? then you will have limited options for cases with in-build power supplies, or limited space for GPU’s, or terrible airflow will also be a limiting factor.

Keeping all of these factors in mind creates a trifecta of attractive elements that draw many enthusiast experts to build their next PC with an ITX frame. Mini ITX builds will offer: extreme portability, requires minimal desk space, and allows fitting cutting edge PC powerhouse components within a mini package. You can even use a 12 Core, 24 Thread CPU in Zen 2 CPU’s that creates a package comparable to Xbox One!

So in this guide, we will create a Ryzen 9 3900X Complete Build in a mini ITX system.

Ryzen 9 3900X Build – Components List

1. PC Case – Streacom DA2

You can find many groundbreaking cases flooding Reddit and youtube, but the catch is, they are not available to the public. I would suggest the Loque Ghost S1 or Streacom DA2 which can be purchased readily. With these cases, you can create small form factor builds from minimal size with actual good airflow, minimal aesthetics, and premium, though it is hard to bring all things under one package.

This metal case is versatile and comes in just 17L, which can intake fans on each side, on top and bottom, full-sized ATX PSU, up to 240mm radiator for cooling and, up to 144mm air cooler. you can have the entire control over the setting up of your PC inside this case. You can also build a NAS here, as it has to capacity to mount up to six 3.5″ drivers and eight 2.5″ drivers.

2.CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X

The ultimate goal is to create a small form factor monster PC build with 12core. 24 thread CPU. And for this, the perfect choice is Ryzen 9 3900X. this CPU can handle 9900K in gaming chops and can hang with productive tasks and efficiency.

It has the ability to be used with your choice from 3 generations of motherboards, runs much cooler than its competitions. Also offers a lot of upgrade potential with the 3950X later and most-likely with Zen 3 next year all being potential upgrade paths for any 3900X build, whereas the Intel counterpart offers no upgrade path going forward.

3. GPU: Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT

The 5700XT offers comparable, and better performance than the 2070 Super Ti. We selected the Sapphire Pulse 5700XT as it offers excellent cooling and acoustics at a range of $20 increase compared with the reference model.

4. Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 I Aorus PRO Wi-Fi

This motherboard has 8 phase VRM, 2 high-speed PCI2 4.0m – 2 slots, 4 USB 3.0, 2 USB 3.1 (1 USB A and 1 USB C), WiFi 6, and is compatible up to DDR4 4400 out of the box. If you want some other options, check the compatible motherboards listed here.

5. CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF 220W TDP

To cool the 24 Thread, 105W beast of a CPU, we can even use a liquid cool system in the case we have chosen. But with the airflow options and pattern available, you can simply use an air cooler with a good airflow pattern.

Our goal is to maximize the airflow and for this, we found Be Quiet Dark Rock TF, as the best option on the market. With a 220w TDP, dual heat-sinks, 6 heat pipes, dual high-performance quiet fans, and 67.8 CFM airflow rating, the Dark Rock TF will maintain our 3900X pretty good and cool, and as well as utilize the well-ventilated side panels on the DA2 case.

6. RAM: Micron Ballistix LT 32GB (2×16) 3200Mhz

The productivity powerhouse and 32GB of RAM are no longer a big deal. Not to mention, in an ITX board you only use two DIMMS, so you can’t just have 2 16GB kits down the road, so the best way to start is using 32GB RAM.

The best 32GB kit for highly overclockable and well-liked is the Micron E-die Ballistix Sport LT 32GB 3200Mhz kit (2x16GB). It is an incredible component worth for you dollars. It has the ability to overclock to at least 3600Mhz along with tight sub-timings. With this kit, you can ramp up your 3900X’s to its maximum guaranteed speed of 1800Mhz. It also offers optimal performance for the 3900X.

7.Boot Drive: Samsung 970 Evo

Samsung 970 Evo is the overall best performer of PCI-E 3.0 NVME drives, and it has outstanding support and warranty from Samsung, along with the wonderful Samsung Magician software for drive cloning. In general, 120GB is used for the boot drive, but we suggest you go with 500GB as you can keep your OS and other games on this drive. Doing this will offer you with the best possible boot speeds and load times for your favorite games.

8. Mass Storage: Intel 660p 2TB NVMe SSD

Intel 660p 2TB NVMe SSD might not be the fastest drive when comparing the synthetic benchmarks, but it performs incredibly well when it comes to the real-world applications like downloads, game loading, and general mass-storage uses. Its QLC NAND is not even near as fast as the MLC on the boot drive we chose above, yet it will handle game storage/loading extremely well.

9.Power Supply: Corsair SF600 80+ Gold

We chose Corsair’s SF600 80+ Gold power supply. It offers reliability, premium flat black cables, full modularity, and excellent efficiency. For our build, 80+ Gold is the min we would suggest for both its reliability and efficiency. In general, while picking the power supply you would never want to max out the PSU’s power draw, so we stayed with the 600W unit.

10.Case Fans: Noctua Redux 120mm PWM

Any decent fan case will do the job. Noctua Redux 120mm PWM fans with grey aesthetic with an excellent ven diagram between price, appearance and, performance and appearance are an easy recommendation.

There you got it— a great compact and powerful build to bring the best out of the new AMD Ryzen 9 3900X! If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to comment to us.
